Like Plastic

Sometimes I laugh
When I feel like crying
Sometimes I try to feel
Nothing at all

I eat for comfort
Watch a glowing screen
For distraction
And shop
For fulfillment

But then
Sleep flees
My voice turns hoarse
Words escape me
I feel my heart harden
Like plastic

And I fear my dreams
Are no longer mine
But are sweatshop knockoffs
Imported cheap from china
