Anxiety
What a cruel word
Say it slowly
An-xi-ety
There it is sharp and terrible
Just waiting for you to look away
So it can stab you in the Hypothalamus
And laugh as the Cortisol
Spurts through your bloodstream

Anxiety is the harshest judge
It sees only your flaws
And nothing more

Anxiety whispers threats in your ear
In the middle of the the night

Anxiety holds you down
and brands your forehead
with it’s X

So everyone will know
Your shame

Anxiety turns shop assistants against you
Pedestrians frown in judgment
Small children and dogs avert their gaze

Anxiety is a cruel word

I prefer this word:
Breathe
